"Firewall Or Fireplace Screen"
Beautiful patina for this 19th century waxed oak fire screen. A removable frame, on which is stretched a fine needlepoint tapestry (see the reverse in the photo) representing a large armful of flowers. The base is well ribbed, flowers and acanthus leaves on the four angles. A garland of flowers at the top. The handle board is not original. (See photo) The pattern of the tapestry in pastel colors is very decorative for this very stable firewall. Note: by stretching a fabric at the back, it can become double-sided because the sculptures are on both sides.
