Figurative painter of the New School of Paris, he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris on June 26, 1945 in the studio of Nicolas Untersteller. He competed without success for the Prix de Rome and in 1953 was awarded the 24th artistic promotion at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid1. Ernest Risse, who lives in Giverny in accommodation at the Hotel Baudy [ref. necessary], was chosen to create the stained-glass windows2 of the church of Pressagny-l'Orgueilleux, rebuilt after the bombings of 1944, inaugurated on July 21, 1957. At the beginning of July 1972, under the influence of alcohol, he destroyed four of its stained glass windows. He promises to remake them, but disappears from the region without respecting his commitment3. Residing in Bourbonnais, in Le Vernet, he received orders from the city of Vichy by Doctor Jacques Lacarin, then deputy mayor of the spa town. Ernest Risse is a corresponding member of the Académie du Vernet. He is also a graduate in history, professor of drawing and laureate of the Institut de France.
