On the top part a chevron shaped pediment and a screwed brass plate with a small alcohol thermometer and a mobile brass index for the barometer.
This plate is engraved with several scales and inscriptions:
- at the top "Barometer Jecker à Paris".
- along the mercury column a graduation from 25 to 30
- on the left hand side for the thermometer "Réaumur scale" followed by a scale graduated from -10 to +40 and the inscriptions "vers à soie", "tempéré", "glace".
- on the right hand side, graduations relating to the barometer: Very dry, Fair fixed, Fair weather, VARIABLE, Rain or Vt, Gde Rain, Storm.
Circular wooden cover in the lower part.
Signed "Jecker à Paris", the great signature of the manufacturers of scientific instruments under the 1st Empire.
