Large Chandelier Restauration Period

Chiseled, gilded and patina bronze.

This rare 12-light chandelier is made up of four sconces carrying three binets each. It is exceptional for the organized “jumble” of its design. The central cup is covered with vegetable curls, and very detached flowers. The sconces are in branches with a superimposition of flowers, the counter-cups are openwork lace carrying binets with sober shapes in contrast to the whole. Four chains carry the body of this chandelier, these hangers are in the form of garlands of flowers whose hook is a snake-shaped esse. This luminaire is adorned in addition to a central column surrounded by branches and carrying a large openwork cup. By its exuberant forms this type of luminaire was found in public places, winter gardens. As these places have disappeared, these unconventional chandeliers were almost all intended for bronze casting. They are therefore never found in a state of stall, but dismantled like this one which required a complete restoration.
