Durando Togo Richard is a self-taught painter of Argentinian origin living in France in 1934. He received the International Grand Prix in 1969. This young girl, who we see in three quarters, is reading in the sun, sitting comfortably in her chair, holding her parasol upside down on the ground. This painting inspires a feeling of lightness in the viewer, which is enhanced by the bright colors reminiscent of the balmy season. Durando Togo Richard's favorite subjects very often represent a female figure, more precisely dancers or portraits of women.
