Pair of bronze book presses, brown patina, Woman giving grapes to Bacchus, Joseph Carlier (1849-1927), signed on the terrace, stamp of the founder. Emile Joseph Nestor Carlier, born January 3, 1849 in Cambrai (North). Died April 11, 1927 in Paris. XIX-XXth centuries. French Sculptor of groups, statues, busts. Student of the Academies of Cambrai and Valenciennes, then of Jouffroy, Cavavalier and Chapu at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He began at the Salon around 1875 with a statue of the chronicler Euguerrand de Monstrelet.
