"Langeais Earthenware Planter"
This large planter is in earthenware from Langeais (Indre et Loire). It is composed of interlacing imitating basketry, and bunches and leaves of grapes. The planter is signed in a cartouche Charles de Boissimon company in Langeais Indre et Loire. It is a typical decoration of the production of the Langeais factory created by Charles de Boissimon in 1839 and closed in 1916. Indeed this decoration recalls the wine production which is a recognized element of the department and of the region in particular Bourgueil and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil which are close to the town of Langeais highlighted by Jean Carmet.
