Alain Bonnefoit was a student at the Duperré School of Applied Arts from 1953 to 1955, then at the National School of Fine Arts in Paris from 1956 to 1957, as well as at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels in 1959 to 1960, then pupil of the sculptor Antoniucci Volti at the Beaux-Arts in Paris.
A nude painter, he practices the Japanese technique of calligraphy known as Sumi-e.
Volti said of him: “Alain Bonnefoit, generous and sensitive nature, is among the best in the figurative art of the new generation. Her line drawing, creator of poetry, is not free, it is organized on the surface in soft arabesques of shapes and lights.
