Charles Clement Calderon ( 1870 / 1906 )
Born in Paris in 1870 / died in 1906
A pupil of Cabanel, Calderon was above all a painter of landscapes. Like many landscape painters of his time he was particularly inspired by the city of Venice, which he painted in an expressionist style.
Most of his works represent views of the city and canals to which are added some maritime paintings. He also traveled to Turkey from where he brought back landscapes from Istanbul and the Bosphorus. He participated in the Colonial Exposition of 1906, the year of his death at 36 years.
