Grand portrait d'une femme vers la fin du XIXème siècle.

Paul Mathey était un peintre parisien de portrait, de paysages et de marines, et graveur né en 1844. Elève de Léon Cogniet, Pils, Mazerolle et Oury. Il débuta au Salon de 1868 médaille d'or en 1889 (exposition universelle) ; chevalier de la légion d'honneur la même année. Artiste d'un goût très délicat, Paul Mathey a réuni une remarquable collection de peintures et de dessins.
