Beautiful and large watercolor drawing and enhanced with gouache representing a view of a charming little village animated as one could see in the 1920s. Francis Roth was born on September 26, 1883 in Paris and died accidentally on May 13, 1932 on the road to Senlis while returning from taking sketches in Pierrefonds. He was a pupil of Bertrand Palissy from 1897 to 1901. Francis Roth was a landscape engraver. He practiced his art from 1905 until his death in 1932. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1925 as well as that of the independents. He was also a watercolor painter, he painted during his stays many landscapes of the Jura, Yonne, Loiret, Midi, Brittany, the Paris region and Belgium.
