Great oil on canvas, Ecce homo seventeenth century.

Probably Spanish school, beautiful representation of Christ in Ecce Homo.

Ecce Homo is a Latin expression that means “Here is the man”.This formula would have been used by Pontius Pilate (Roman emperor of Judea) when in Jerusalem he presented to the crowd Jesus of Nazareth coming out of the praetor after the scourging.
Christ is represented here with the codes proper to the Ecce Homo.
Pale and lean, he is clothed with a red cloak, a crown of thorns, and a reed for a scepter.

Like all the paintings I propose, this great oil on canvas is in its juice (nature).It is sold with its wooden frame and original frame.Unfortunately it has suffered the outrages of time, in fact, more than 4 centuries have passed since the creation of this painting (see photo).
Like most religious paintings of that time, it is not signed to my knowledge.Of high quality, there is certainly a nice discovery to make for those who will know to whom to attribute it.
