This work is considered to have been produced jointly by the two sculptors: Emile Guillemin and Alfred Barye son.

Alfred Barye, known as “the Son”, or Alf Barye, born in Paris on January 21, 1839, and died in the same city in 1882, is a French sculptor.
Alfred Barye is the pupil of his father, the sculptor Antoine-Louis Barye.
His work includes animal bronzes as well as orientalist subjects.
At the request of his father, he signs his works under the name of Barye "The Son" to differentiate him.
He exhibited at the Salon from 1864 to 1882.

Émile-Coriolan Guillemin, born in Paris on November 16, 1841 and died in the same city in 1907, is a French sculptor.
Émile-Coriolan Guillemin is a pupil of his father, Auguste Marie Guillemin and Jules Salmson.
He exhibited at the Salon from 1870 until 1899.
He obtained an honorable mention in 1892.
Guillemin especially practiced the orientalist genre, pushing to the extreme a realism served, in his bronzes in particular, by a remarkable quality of carving.
