"Art Nouveau Pantin Crystal Vase Decor Poppies And Butterfly"
All the Art Nouveau repertoire is present on this vase from the Cristallerie de Pantin: On a colorless satin background, a rotating decoration of poppies in bloom with their stems and their large serrated leaves as well as the poppy capsules still closed which rises from the base . And without forgetting the butterfly which is a "trademark" of the Cristallerie. The interior of the vase has more or less broad rounded ribs. The decor is hand painted with polychrome enamels. The translucent enamels are surrounded by gold and delimit the decoration. The perfectly ground pontil bears the inscriptions "Pantin 1225 4" by hand and the monogram "STV" for Stumpf, Touvier and Viollet, the owners of the Crystal from 1888 until the very first years. of the 20th century. The label of the Bordeaux distributor is applied next to the monogram. See a vase of the same manufacture pictured in Giuseppe Cappa's book "L'Europe de l'art vitrier" and its signature.
