Pair Of Angels With Columns Of The Passion, XVIII Eme Century flag

Object description :

"Pair Of Angels With Columns Of The Passion, XVIII Eme Century"
Charming pair of angels in polychrome wood and gilded wood,
each carrying the column of the passion of Christ. they are in good condition despite some lack of polychromy and gilding.
one of the wings has been glued.
the faces and postures are charming.
The clothes are very finely painted with floral motifs resumed in gilding on a green background for the coat and on a reddish brown background for their long dresses.
the wings are very finely carved and they too are taken from golden patterns forming the movement of the feathers.
the drapes especially at the level of the feet at the base are nicely sculpted with a nice general movement.
each one carries a column painted in false marble and symbolizing the column of passion to which Christ was attached to suffer the insults.
the faces are really charming and remind of the faces of children or putti with a beautiful polychromy which gives them a beautiful expression.
apparently the columns could have served as candlesticks.
a very pretty pair of angels of very good quality of execution and very decorative.
