"Venetian Saddle"
"Putto" in carved and gilded solid wood, carrying a tray to serve as a candlestick. Typical of rich Venetian furniture, this sculpture is treated in a vigorous style where one feels the hand of a master. The putto is standing on a plinth with a terrace. His slightly hip position, his plump limbs and plump cheeks strongly resemble the figures inhabiting the churches of the Baroque period, but in a domestic interpretation, which attests to how much this style was that of an entire era in Italy.
