"Large Italian Painting (the Holy Family)"
Large painting from the Italian school of the late 18th or early 19th century depicting the Holy Family with the young Saint John the Baptist. The work bears an inscription (signature?) On the reverse Camillo Lembo and a label on the frame indicating the collection of Father Magnin. The characters are painted with great care, the color contrasts and the play of light are subtle, referring to the great creations of 17th century Italian painting. Small restorations to report (two pieces on the reverse). Very pretty frame in gilded wood with rich decoration of garlands, plant scrolls and shells. Dimensions without frame: 95 cm x 79 cm.
