Jacques Fromonot, a self-taught artist, turned to art in his early twenties, leaving his post as an engineer in Lyon. After having traveled through Latin America. he returned to settle on the Côte d'Azur in 1968. He won first prize at the Salon d'Art Moderne in Paris in 1961.
