"Nativity Renaissance Lorraine 16th H 73 Cm Stone Sculpture"
Rare sculpture in high relief, in polychrome limestone, about a manger, Nativity of Christ. Rich representation with Mary, Joseph, the donkey and the ox, two angels in the background. The whole appears under the roof of a thatched cottage (openwork beams in the decoration), and is placed in a niche, painted in marble trompe l'oeil, adorned in its center with a shell, and laterally with pilasters. This composition is typical of Lorraine Renaissance productions, 16th century. Its origin: the surroundings of Domrémy la Pucelle, the birthplace of Joan of Arc. Exceptional quality. Original polychromy. Good condition (see photos)
