"Small Renaissance Box, Bone And Fruitwood Inlaid"
Charming rectangular box, on four small ball feet; 3 sides are inlaid in frames, including the facade decorated with a variation of the Maltese cross quite successful. Domed lid is also superbly inlaid of bone, forming a complicated parquet floor. Hinges and latches are made of iron  wire. Inside, a beautiful paper decorated with gold brocade on a vermilion background.
Provincial, Mediterranean work probably Italian, high quality primitive late 16th or early 17th century.
