Félix-Urbain Cambon, born April 21, 1875 in Sète (Hérault), died January 21, 1961 in Béziers (Hérault).
Portrait painter
Born in Sète, his childhood was spent in Béziers. For four years he was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Toulouse. Then, for three years he was a student at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and received advice from Léon Bonnat. Returned to settle in Béziers, he continued to exhibit in Paris, at the Salon des Artistes français, of which he became a member, honorable mention in 1930. He was curator of the Béziers Museum of Fine Arts for thirty years.
He left some sketches of musicians of the time, Saint-Saëns, Fauré, which were to appear on a large fresco celebrating the musical events of the arenas of Béziers, the order of which was canceled during the 1914-1918 war. Many local personalities posed for him. The municipal foyer of Béziers preserves its paintings and the “wine hymn” decorates the chamber of commerce. Reference Benezit.
