View of the port, oil on panel mounted in a wooden frame, Jean Luypaert (1893-1954), signed in the lower right corner. Frame dimensions: H. 37.5 x L. 37.5 x D. 3 cm; panel: H. 32 x L. 32 cm. Jean Luypaert (Vilvorde 1893 - Ostende 1954). Painter and watercolorist of landscapes, seascapes, urban views, church interiors, workshops and still lifes. Also etcher. Student at the Academy of Brussels (J. Portaels, L. Titz). Drawing and music teacher. Co-founder of the Cercle Portaels in Vilvorde (1918). Moves to Koksijde in 1946, then to Veurne. Produces many watercolors on the Côte d'Azur (1951-54). Works in the town halls of Koksijde, Furnes, Schaerbeek and Vilvorde.
