Cast iron plate with allegorical decoration. It represents an antique-style scene with the goddess Eos seated under a radiant sun, and with at her side, a Doric column on which is perched a rooster. Eos is the Greek goddess of dawn, sister of Sol (Sun) and Luna (Moon). Each morning, Eos opened the doors of the day. After harnessing her horses, she mounted her chariot of the sun drawn by winged horses, then she accompanied the sun until evening.
