"Louis XV Double Sided Desk In Roserc Wood, XVIIIth Time Marked Ehb"
Superb and exceptional large double-sided flat desk in rosewood veneer in Louis XV style and from the 18th century. It rests on 4 arched feet finished with a superb claw-clawed shoe in finely chiseled gilded bronze. It opens on the front with 3 drawers, the faces and sides are scalloped and covered with a marquetry with geometric patterns in rosewood. The entire desk is adorned with pull cuffs, offcuts on the feet of escutcheons on the sides and "mustaches" in gilded and finely chiseled bronze of superb quality. The tray is covered with its old leather, surrounded by its original bronze ingot mold. Superb quality work in excellent original condition, bearing the EHB mark of renowned London furniture dealer Edward Holmes Baldock (1777-1845) furniture supplier to the Royal family and one of the earliest known great antique dealers.
