"Still Life With Peaches By A. F. Bonnardel"
Beautiful still life by the Lyon painter Alexandre François Bonnardel. On a wooden tray, in front of a neutral background, luminous peaches occupy the center of the painting. Next to it a more dimly lit bottle of Chianti, and to the right a wine jar balances the uncluttered ensemble. The chiaroscuro effect is perfectly mastered and the palette of warm tones is also very attractive. The canvas is in very good condition. It has been perfectly restored (3 addicts visible on the back) The painting is signed upper right "Bonnardel". According to the Bénézit this painter is "a pupil of Zacharie, then of J.-B. Poncet at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, where he entered in 1891; he began at the Salon de Lyon, in 1891, with a Still Life, - at the Paris Salon, in 1904, with a Portrait.etc etc "(see Bénézit, p.157
