""dama" - Pastel On Paper By Vittorio Cavalleri"
Large size for this pastel on paper applied on board depicting a lady with her pet. The work is signed at the bottom right by the artist Vittorio Cavalleri (1860 - 1938), a Piedmontese painter, the son of a cloth merchant, who was initiated into the family business by his father. At the age of eighteen, Vittorio Cavalleri enrolled in courses at the Accademia Albertina and had Andrea Gastaldi as his teacher. He attended the Albertina together with the painters Andrea Tavernier and Lorenzo Delleani. In the same year as his graduation, 1883, he exhibited at the Circolo degli Artisti and in 1884 took part in the Promotrice di Belle Arti in Turin, with the paintings Zappe abbandonate and Fiori di cimitero, which was later destroyed by the artist himself. Traces of it remain in an etching by C. Turchetti. Vittorio Cavalleri taught at the evening classes of the Accademia Albertina in Turin.
