"Turkish Coffee, Small 18th Century Jug, For Ottoman Empire"
Superb object, South Germany, (Augsburg or Nuremberg for export to Ottoman Empire), towards the end of the 18th century. The object is charming, and individually sized. Composed of 6 pieces of stamped brass, the jug rests on a pedestal, screwing to a cup stamped with floral decorations in relief, the scalloped border retains the body of a timpani with a spout, the interior of which has kept its original silver plating. A handle cast and chiseled brass joins the hinge of the repoussé lid, which presents at its top a branch of simulated coral, still silvered.
Some flaws: wear, even disappearance of the original silver plating, small weaknesses in the foot, (barely visible cracks), beak a little chipped.
Qualities: what a pretty model! What a nice assembly, old screws and beautiful nut. A pleasure for the selfish.
