Painter and illustrator, Gustave Assire studied at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and was a student of Benjamin Constant, fernand Cormon, Jean Paul Laurens and Gustave Moreau. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais from 1900, at the Salon des Indépendants from 1927 to 1931 and at the Salon d'Automne. He illustrated E.Psichan, Verlaine and Musset.
