The Renouvel workshop is one of those places that seem entirely devoted to ornamentation: the walls and furniture are covered with plaster ornaments and essential woodcarving tools - chisels, gouges, bevels and chisels of all shapes and sizes.
Anne Nicolle has worked there for several decades.
She entered it as an apprentice in 1977 and became a Student of the owner of the workshop, Jean Renouvel, when he was appointed Master of Art in 1994.
She won the first sculpture prize at the Salon des Artistes Naturalistes du Muséum d ' Natural History of Paris in 1996.
If Anne Nicolle already masters the know-how, the transmission allows her to really take charge of the sites.
Anne Nicolle, who draws from a young age, insists on the importance of this activity in her work, seeing in the realization of sketches a decisive preparatory work.
The workshop is renowned for its restorations and has many references, including a collaboration with the Opéra Garnier and the Château de Versailles.
Anne Nicolle also makes her own sculptures, mainly animals that she draws from nature before carving them in different woods, current or precious.
In the digital age, Anne Nicolle retains a particularity: she carefully keeps the preparatory studies and the photographs of her achievements in files.
These documents constitute at the same time a precious archive, a showcase of its know-how, as well as the memorial support of an art practiced with passion.
