Painter, watercolorist, orientalist, Alphonse Rey was a pupil of Félix Ziem. He mainly paints watercolors on the motif, inspired by the Provençal countryside, the shores of the Mediterranean or his annual trips to Algeria. He was also appointed curator of the Ziem Museum in Martigues.
