"Raymond Dierickx : "the Poor In The Church""
Raymond Dierickx (1904-1978) “The poor at the church” pastel and charcoal 47 X 34 cm mounted under a neutral pH mat 50 X 65 cm, signed lower right under the Marie-Louise. The modest dress of the faithful contrasts with the gold and the brilliance of the stained glass windows of the church. It was for us a real discovery that this beautiful Belgian artist! Even found in leaves and dusty, these drawings, once prepared and framed, reveal all the talent of Dierickx, close to artists like Nicolas Eeckmann, Fritz Van den Berghe, Constant Permeke or other typically Flemish expressionists such as Anto Carte, representing Fêtes , processions, fairs in the great tradition of Flemish painters dating back to the 17th century with the Brughels, but treated with great modernity. Other facets of his work show us his projects for frescoes or large decorations, often exotic, while in the old watercolors, we find a Symbolist vein with an elongated barrel. We dedicated an exhibition to it (pdf catalog available by email) with the first ones found, but we have bought many since! Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone.
In partnership with the Galerie Lafouresse, we are specialists in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Arcachon Basin. Other photos and many other objects in our stores in Pau and Biarritz and on our website: galerielhoste.com.
