"Raymond Dierickx: "don Quixote To The Blue Sky""
Raymond Dierickx (1904-1978) "Don Quixote in the Blue Sky" Charcoal and pastel 50 X 70 cm on sheet 55 X 73 cm. Don Quixote turns to the windmill which, in his mind, is threatening him like a giant with huge arms. Since the beginning of the 17th century, the adventures of the Ingenious Hidalgo in the face of the inexorability of the modern world have seduced countless generations of readers who have projected themselves there. It was for us a real discovery that this beautiful Belgian artist! Even found in leaves and dusty, these drawings, once prepared and framed, reveal all the talent of Dierickx, close to artists like Nicolas Eeckmann, Fritz Van den Berghe, Constant Permeke or other typically Flemish expressionists such as Anto Carte, representing Fêtes , processions, fairs in the great tradition of Flemish painters dating back to the 17th century with the Brughels, but treated with great modernity. Other facets of his work show us his projects for frescoes or large decorations, often exotic, while in the old watercolors, we find a Symbolist vein with an elongated barrel. We dedicated an exhibition to it (pdf catalog available by email) with the first ones found, but we have bought many since! Do not hesitate to ask us for photos or additional information by email or phone. In partnership with the Galerie Lafouresse, we are specialists in paintings on the Basque Country, the Landes and the Arcachon Basin.
