Watercolourist and cartoonist, he was a figure of Montmartre to which he was very attached, he joined forces with his friends Adolphe Willette, Forain, Maurice Neumont , Raoul Guérin at the creation of the “Republic of Montmartre” in 1920-1921.
He contributed to many illustrated newspapers such as "Le Pêle-Mêle", "Le Rire", "L'Assiette au Beurre" but also illustrated works by Courteline, Léon Frapié and Jules Renard.
The neologism "poulbot", which has served the image of this talented artist, is a reference to his numerous illustrations of street kids.
