"Sarreguemines, Elephant Fountain, Majolica"
Sarreguemines, fountain reservoir depicting an elephant's head, in fine earthenware covered with colored glazes, known as majolica.The frontal adornment is inspired by decorations seen on harnessed elephants in India.
A copy of this rare fountain enriches the famous winter garden at the Sarreguemines Museum.
Intaglio marks: SARREGUEMINES and the shape number 1912.
Dating: Around 1890

Condition:
-A lack inside on a point of attachment.
- Small chip on the trunk (see photos).
- The basin is missing.
- No cracks or restoration.
