Teapot serving as a kettle from Persia and Central Asia, XIXth century. The cylindrical body in the center designed as a fireplace received embers which kept the tea warm, the bottom pierced with holes allowed the ashes to escape. Identical to Russian samovars. A simple and clever system. This beautiful object in formerly tinned copper with a cylindrical body and bulbous base, a high openwork pedestal, and surmounted by double domiform lids, one for the passage of water, the other for the passage of embers. The full handle in an eventful "esse" is in molten brass. Embossed decoration with lanceolate motifs and engraved floral ribs. Exceptional patina.
