Object description :

"Portrait Of A Young Man With Letters, Louis XV Period"
Portrait of a young man with the letter, oil on canvas dimensions 40 cm x 51.5 cm, with its original carved wooden frame 53 cm x 64.5 cm, original canvas and stretcher. This handsome young man is identified on the back, Pierre Marie Morin, born in Macon in 1745. Fashion at the time of Louis XV requires men to wear ponytail wigs which must be white and on the temples appear rolls often horizontally, as in our portrait. To obtain the white one uses flour or rice powder. This will make Rousseau say "we need powder for our wigs, that's why the poor have no bread". This white fashion applies to all age groups, even children. Surprising for our century which seeks to hide the marks of old age, especially in hairdressing.
