Object description :

"Persian Tabriz Rug, 200 Cm X 303 Cm, Iran, Hand-knotted Wool Circa 1980, Very Good Condition"
Tabriz carpet circa 1980 in hand-knotted kork wool from Iran and measuring 200 cm x 303 cm long.
This carpet is very clean, the soft and thick kork wool knotted admirably and tightly reveals shades full of contrasts, a beautiful medallion surrounded by a half of flowers placed on a cream field surrounded by four spandrels and abundantly worked borders.
The unusual nuances underline this learned floral design in the great tradition of Persian art, inspired by the miniatures of the school of Tabriz, then capital of the Persian empire.
The fringes are clean and in good condition and finish this carpet of very good quality.
The kork wool is the softest wool, taken under the belly and under the neck of lambs.
This carpet dates from the 1980s, is in very good condition, with very slight wear.
Tabriz (Azerbaijani: Təbriz / تبریز, formerly Tauris), is the capital of the province of East Azerbaijan, in northwestern Iran (Iranian Azerbaijan).
It lies on the course of the Talkheh River (also called Aji-Chāi), near Lake Urmia, close to the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia. Tabriz is the gateway to Persia from north to west, Tabriz rugs are of utmost importance in the quality of Persian rugs and a wonderful international fame.
The Tabriz are among the most popular carpets in the world, their work is always very fine and durable over time.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
