Photograph of Jacques Louis César Alexandre, Count Randon, Marshal of France (1795-1871) from the painting by Horace Vernet (1789-1863) illustrating the military's victories in Kabylia in 1857. This painting was donated by the Ministry state at the Versailles Museum in 1859, Napoleon III collection. The wooden and gilded stucco frame is surmounted by two saltire marshal's sticks (with eagles), count's crown. No decoration shown. Wreath of laurel leaves, Count de Randon's motto being "Do good, life is short". Protective glass. Dimensions of the photo, 39.5x25.5 cm Dimensions of the frame 70x54.5 cm Enlisted in 1811 in the Napoleonic army, Jacques Louis César Alexandre Randon (1795-1871) participated in the 93rd line regiment in the Russian campaign . Made available under the Restoration because of his Bonapartist opinions, he joined the army in 1830. General in 1841, Randon spent most of his career in Algeria where his administration was marked by numerous military expeditions.
