"Selfish Money Service: Maison Appay Paris"
Charming selfish Art Deco silver service from the prestigious Maison APPAY in Paris, 24, rue de la Paix. The luxurious box offered to Tsar Nicolasll during his visit to France in 1901 came from this great House. It includes a chocolate maker (or jug), a milk jug and a sugar bowl. The lines are sober and elegant characteristic of this period. The sockets are made of wood as well as the button on the lid of the chocolate maker centered with a silver pellet. The 3 pieces are hallmarked with the boar's head; also presence of a goldsmith's mark. Each piece is marked on the reverse: APPAY PARIS. The interiors are ruddy but in a subdued manner due to use.
