Old Karabagh Carpet, Caucasus, 154 Cm X 240 Cm, Wool / Wool, Second Half Of The 19th Century

Karabakh or Karabakh carpet, originating from Armenia, Caucasus, from the second part of the 19th century.
On a red field typical of the style of these Karabakh rugs, decorated in the center with a large medallion decorated with large roses, taking up the decoration of the French rugs from the soap factory with foliage of multicolored flowers.
Around this medallion, four bunch of roses finish covering the field.
A thin black Greek on a white background delimits the border composed of more stylized bouquet of flowers.
This dense knotting carpet, 360,000 knots per m2 has a wool pile on a wool foundation, a very nice freshness of colors and is in a remarkable state of conservation for its advanced age.
Carpets prior to 1925 are defined in five groups: Kazakhs, Karabakh or Sjirvan, Kuba and Dagestani.
Carpets from the Karabakh region often have soft patterns and are reminiscent of Persian rugs.
Apart from this classification, there are also Gandja, Silé and Verni rugs.
These rugs are distinguished by their very varied and imaginative geometric patterns.
We sometimes find, in stylized form, animal figures or geometric and architectural patterns.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
