Portraits of 14 richly adorned queens or empresses, and studies of jewelry and bracelets, circa 1925. The artist has represented Egypt, Rome, Greece, Byzantium, the Middle Ages, and the 19th century. Brown ink wash and sepia, pencil, signed lower right HEROUARD. Chéri Herouard (1881-1961), real name Chéri-Louis-Marie-Aimé HAUME, French illustrator of the 19th and 20th century. After illustrating children's books, he worked for many years for the newspaper "La vie Parisienne", or other magazines such as "le rire", "Fantasia", or "La baïonette".
