"19th Century Norman Necklace."
This molded silver necklace consists of ten round links set with a large faceted stone surrounded by two smaller ones, they are distributed on either side of a stone cross, called Saint Lo, which has four cabochons. on an openwork background, decorated with fleurons set with small stones. Under the cross is a pendant set with a round stone. The reverse side of each element is adorned with a radiant, gadrooned pattern. The necklace is now fitted with a chain but it was once worn using a small velvet ribbon which was fixed on each side by a small link which is still in place. This charming necklace is characteristic of the finest production of Norman goldsmiths of the 19th century, it is in solid silver, mounted with faceted white stones that make it sparkle. The control mark is a boar's head, on the other hand we have not been able to identify the maker's mark. Period first half of the 19th century. Its total length is 47 cm, but it can be tied shorter.
