"Large Persian Carpet Tabriz"
Entirely knotted by hand, pure wool, vegetable dyes, size: 4.00mX3.05m. Tabriz in northwestern Iran was a historic center of carpet production and is an area well known for its court rugs like the Ardebil Carpet. After the mid-19th century, Tabriz relaunched its carpet production and became a production center for export to Europe and elsewhere. Of particular importance is the Tabriz carpet. The first carpets for export were made in the town's workshops. After shipping antique rugs abroad, merchants began to produce them themselves in workshops, according to sizes and colors ordered by European merchants. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why this rug is not distinguished by a particular color.
