Extremely rare copy of this album by the painter-traveler Auguste Borget, published by the artist following a trip that took him to North and South America, the East, the Far East and Oceania. This album represents views and scenes taken during the journey, and consists of a lithographed title and 12 plates drawn and lithographed in two colors by Auguste Borget himself. Each plate is accompanied by a sheet containing an explanatory note. The plates represent the following subjects: 1). Windmill on the banks of the Hudson, in front of New York. 2). Our Lady of Glory (in Rio de Janeiro). 3). A street in Buenos-Aires. 4). A ravine in the Sierra de Cordova (South America). 5). A street in Lima (Peru). 6). Chilean stopover in the Santiago Plain (Chile). 7). A drinking trough in Arequipa (Peru). 8). Street and Market in Canton (China). 9). Honoloulou Beach in Oahou (Sandwich Islands). 10). Balsas (Fishing Boats) on the Coast of Bolivia. 11). Bridge and village of Passig 6 leagues from Manila (Philippine Islands). 12). Clives Street in Calcutta. Auguste Borget, born in Issoudun on August 25, 1808 and died in Bourges on October 25 in 1877, is a French painter. A pupil of Boichard father and Théodore Gudin (1802-1880, official painter of the French Navy), Borget began at the salon of 1836 where he hung up until 1859 the works produced during his travels. He is also a friend of Honoré de Balzac.
