This View of Venice is the work of a French school from the beginning of the 20th century. It is part of the taste of the landscapes of Venice painted by Félix Ziem (1821-1911).
This oil on canvas is animated by the moving gondola, in the foreground in the center and by the posture of the gondolier, in the effort that gives life to the scene. The canvas is stopped on the left by a facade of architectural buildings that stand emerge in a play of lights and shadows.
The sky of an ivory gray blue, very present, illuminates this view and lets glimpse in the background, in a slight blur, various monuments including the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore.
This painting is in good condition, on its original canvas (old restorations), with very slight cracks. Has a black frame.
