"Circa 1920 : "the Harvests""
Table circa 1920: “Les moissons”, oil on canvas 46 X 33 cm, mounted in a restoration frame stripped with a primer showing the wood in places 53 X 49 cm. Ooh La La ! it makes me funny to see him again in the light of day! This painting has accompanied me for at least 30 years and, seeing it again, I still find it so interesting. I had found it under another orientalist painting for which it served as a frame (see photo) which makes me think that it could have been made in the Atlas, even if the technique, with its partitioning, its touch that s 'widens towards the front of the painting to focus the gaze on the background, reminds me more of the Swiss like Vallotton or Hodler… I am delivering this painting to you while I can still climb into my attic where I installed my "Ripening room", namely a kind of picture library where I stored quality works, but with an illegible signature, or even anonymous while waiting for serendipity to make me meet his brother in a catalog, a book or an exhibition, thus allowing them to be identified… Oh! It still happens to me three or four times a year, sometimes on works acquired 30 years previously, sometimes the previous month. If an Internet user has a lead, I thank him in advance and let him know that it is better to deal with a very thin rather than a fat dwarf!
