Discovers the South of France and Italy in 1919. Work in Brugge and settles in Louvain in 1920. Travel for the first time to the Belgian Congo in 1934. Reaches his maturity there, with a sunny and colotée palette. Settled permanently on the shores of Lake Kivu in 1947.
