Beautiful oil on canvas representing a child in the middle of his toys in a wooded park, by Charles Colson. Charles Jean Baptiste Colson was born in 1810 in Strasbourg, he then followed in 1827 the courses of Baron Gros at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. After a short stay in New Orleans in 1837, where he left some portraits, he returned to Paris until 1851 when he exhibited at the salon. he then divided his life between Paris and Agen where he painted numerous portraits of the local bourgeoisie. This canvas, probably rectangular, was probably adapted to the oval format at that time and adorned with this sumptuous gilded stucco frame. Signature at the bottom center: Ch. Colson. Agen 1851.
