Painter, engraver and illustrator, Alméry Lobel-Riché is best known for his representations of gallantry. He was a pupil of Léon Bonnat, Antoine Calbet and Paul Saïn. He exhibited his paintings very early on at the Salon des Artistes Français. For his first works he illustrated novels then, in exile in Corrèze during the war, he turned more towards painting, his engraving and lithography equipment having remained in his Parisian workshop.
