Canvas dimensions 65 x 54 cm Framed dimensions 72 x 66 cm Henri Malançon (1876-1960) was initiated into painting at the Académie Julian in 1903 where he made friends with Jean Souverbie, Georges Braque, André Dunoyer de Segonzac and Raymond Legueult. He did not really begin his career as a painter until after the 1914 war for which he was mobilized. He led a discreet career punctuated by regular submissions to the Salon d'Automne from 1926 and a personal exhibition at the Druet gallery in 1930. In addition to a wall decoration for the Normal Higher School in the rue d'Ulm, he produced for Sèvres the service Georges VI of England.
